We are meeting about District Six local neighbourhood plan
19 October 2020
The City of Cape Town wants to remind residents and interest groups of the upcoming meeting about the local spatial development framework, or local neighbourhood plan for District Six. The next meeting is taking place on Thursday, 22 October 2020.
The City hosted the introductory meeting about the local spatial development framework (LSDF) for District Six on 22 September 2020. This meeting was well attended and we are hoping that the next engagement will attract as much interest, if not more.
The meeting will be online, and in person.
The City is making available five venues where residents can attend in person and we kindly request that you RSVP by Tuesday, 20 October 2020, given that we need to prepare and implement COVID-19 health and safety protocols at these venues.
The details are as follows:
• Date: Thursday, 22 October 2020
• Time: 11:00 to 13:00
• Venues: Council Chamber, Civic Centre, 12 Hertzog Boulevard
Subcouncil 16 Council Chambers, 44 Wale Street, CBD

https://bit.ly/CCT-DistrictSix The 2012 District Six Spatial Development Framework will form the basis of the upcoming workshops. The plan is available on the City’s website, and can be perused in advance.
‘The redevelopment of District Six is one of the most important redress projects we will see in Cape Town in coming years. The City is responsible for refining and finalising the LSDF for this area and we will do so by working closely with residents. We want to include everybody, and I am encouraging residents to contribute to this process and to fully participate.
‘The local neighbourhood plan is very important as this plan will determine the look and feel of District Six long after the houses for beneficiaries have been built. The LSDF will focus on the location and design of public open spaces, how the area connects with surrounding neighbourhoods, the land uses and future developments, the provision of public facilities and roads, and so forth,’ the City’s Mayoral Committee for Spatial Planning and Environment, Alderman Marian Nieuwoudt.
The online presentations will be screened at the five venues.
The threat of the COVID-19 pandemic is still with us.
We want to remind all that the wearing of face masks is compulsory. Temperature screening will be done on arrival at the venues, attendees will be required to complete a contact form and use hand sanitiser, and social distancing will be observed in line with COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
